Providing instant access to life-saving information

We have several thousand deployments of in-vehicle computers with Fire & Rescue services in the UK, Europe and Middle East.

Our computers’ large rugged touch screens allow firefighters to access a wealth of potentially life-saving information including building and risk plans, design specifications of most cars, road maps and the properties and risks associated with more than 30,000 chemical substances – direct from the fire appliance cab.

As the leading technology provider of its kind in the UK, we helped Norfolk Fire to achieve its pioneering mobile data system, giving fire crews instant access to more information en route to, and during an incident, and thus improving operational efficiency and, consequently leading to faster response times.

Key features

- Vehicle fixed or demountable computing solutions to suit the requirement
- Works over any network – bearer independent wireless connectivity
- Flexible platform – add any PC software
- Large daylight viewable OptiVue™ touchscreens
- Extensive connectivity for cameras, digital video and vehicle location systems

Ambulance

Improving ambulance response times through accurate and timely information

Through its European channel partners, Microbus in-vehicle computers are used extensively within the Ambulance market across Europe and their comprehensive installations have improved operational efficiency and, consequently, meant faster emergency response times.

They provide the keystone for communication between ambulance workers and the control room as well as providing navigation instructions for drivers through its digital mapping systems. The systems can be set up to send status reports back to the control room as soon as the ambulance reaches its callout destination. This includes an update of the GPS coordinates, so the system can, if necessary, be revised to help any other emergency vehicles on their way to go straight to the precise location, thereby saving vital time.

What separates the M-PC system from other products in the market is the extensive functionality and connectivity that emergency services organisations need. The computer’s multi-bearer flexibility allows users to send and receive data over any radio network from 3G/GPRS to TETRA.

Another useful feature supported by the system is dual screen technology. This is ideally suited to ambulance installations where a second monitor can be installed in the back of the vehicle and used by another person for simultaneous access to different parts of the system.

Key features

- Vehicle fixed or demountable computing solutions to suit the requirement
- Works over any network – bearer independent wireless connectivity
- Integrates fully into the vehicle’s power and ignition system
- Large daylight viewable OptiVue™ touchscreens
- Extensive features for cameras, digital video and vehicle location systems
